Writing the book on Wordpress. Literally!

Congratulations to our partner Peter Spannagle of Your Custom Blog.

Peter was recently approached by Packt Publishing (UK) with an offer to author a technical manual on WordPress and Flash. The ink is dry on contract and Peter say’s he’s really excited to be making this contribution to the WordPress community. He’ll be co-authoring the book with Sarah Soward, a designer, Bay Area Video Coalition instructor and fine artist.

Testing out the Tweetsuite Wordpress App

 

For all you sync crazy Wordpress/Twitter junkies, Tweetsuite has the integration cure for what ails ya’.

Tweetsuite, the new Worpress plugin by Dan Zarella, lets you fully integrate Twitter into your Wordpress blog pretty seamlessly.

Think of Tweetsuite as a supersized version of Zarella’s Tweetbacks plugin. Not only does Tweetsuite display all tweets that reference a particular post, but it feeds posts directly to your Twitter account and automatically adds buttons for Tweeting, Re-Tweeting, and adding to your favorite tweets.  There are also side bar widgets that display your latest, favorite, and most popular Twitter feeds. Twitter Overload? Pretty close.

So far I’ve installed the plugin on all my sites and it’s working fine. While it would be easy to OD on this feature heavy plugin I’m using it primarly for the Twitter auto post and “Tweet This” features. Read more

  Just like we’re passionate about media and communications, we also believe in the power of strong communities.  So with the purpose of strengthening our local information networks and supporting the people who make the Bay Area cultural community great, Otherside Media and Your Custom Blog are proud to announce the OSM Community Newswire.  

  The newswire will be a place for local community organizations, businesses and arts groups to get the word out about their events and innitiatives.  Public meetings, city initiatives, art opening and house parties-if it’s relevant to the Bay Area cultural community send it on over.

  The events will be archived on our the site as well as distributed to our Twitter and Facebook networks.  And look for options to subscribe by email and RSS feed coming up really soon.
